Belated Easter Tales

April 18, 2010

I wanted to show you these lovely Easter eggs that we did a few weeks ago at my friend’s house. Leanne is wonderfully creative, and she’s never done the store-bought kind of easter egg dye before. I love that. So, here are the eggs that we dyed with steeped onion skins, beets and turmeric. We didn’t have enough beets, so the eggs never really took the color. But, the onion skins made our brown eggs turn a beautiful dark red, and the turmeric turned them a deep golden color. So, so fun. Can’t wait to try it next year with an expanded palette. The other things you’ll see below are bread nests and wet-felted eggs. All of these crafts in one day would have overwhelmed me, but somehow Leanne made it seem effortless. It was truly a lovely afternoon.
