Blood:Water Mission

July 19, 2013

I’d like to introduce you to Blood:Water Mission.  I’d also like to ask you for a favor- more on that in a minute.  Blood:Water is an organization that was started by the band Jars of Clay a few years ago.  From the Blood:Water website:

Since its launch, Blood:Water Mission has raised millions of dollars through the creative efforts of tens of thousands of individuals seeking to make a difference, providing for the completion of the 1000 Wells Project at the end of 2010. To date, we have partnered with more than 1,300 communities in Africa, providing life-saving water and health care for over 800,000 people in 11 different countries. Along the way the 1000 Wells Project expanded holistically to include a variety of clean water solutions, sanitation and hygiene training, the capacity building of our local grassroots partners to improve their ability to develop sustainable programs, as well as funding health clinics, community health workers, and support groups, which help in the prevention, treatment, care and support of communities affected by AIDS. Although the 1000 Wells Project is completed, we aren’t moving on – we are moving deeper. There are still millions without safe water, and our commitment to them continues. Additionally, moving forward we are incorporating HIV/AIDS programs, building on the foundation of ongoing water programming.

I’m participating in a fundraiser for Blood:Water, and I’m wondering if you might consider supporting me.  But, not with money.  Cause Pub is partnering with Blood:Water to publish a book about Couch Rebels, or people who got off the couch to do something about a problem or issue that they couldn’t ignore.  I just shared the Frustrated Farmgirl story for the book, and I’m wondering if you will vote for my story?  If we make it into the book, half of the money will go to Blood:Water, which is wonderful.  It also has the potential to throw a little money at our business.  Click here if you would like more information on the project.

Would you help me in two ways?

  1. Would you vote for my story?
  2. Would you tap your social media network to help me get more votes?

A big shout out to my friend Jennifer for letting me know about the Blood:Water book!

Here is our story if you would like to read it.
